Leica book

Hi Lusers, (no offense intended)

Just thought I would mention a book I just purchased that might be of interest to Leica Photographers. The book is called Voyages by Raymond Depardon. The text is in French & english and heavily illustrated. Most of the photos where taken with Leica M3&M6 and 35mm and 50mm lenses, along with other cameras/formats. Needless to say the book is really wonderful and contains photos taken while Depardon was traveling. IMHO this book is what makes Leica M camera so useful for the travel photographer.

Tom, I saw an exhibit of Depardon's travel photos in Paris at the European Institute of Photography. The were all verticals and seemed to have been taken with a medium format 6x9 camera. The prints included the edges of the negatives with the VP markings visable and no sprocket holes. The prints were extraordinarily beautiful and all printed at around 16x20 (Very large). I bought a book at the institute called "Errance" which could loosely be translated as "Voyages". I wonder how your book is related to mine? Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I think the photos you saw in Paris are more recent and where taken with an ALPA 12/Schneider Super-Angulon XL 5.6/58 mm). The book I purchased is designed as a very large paper back, interesting design, with photos from all over the world. The front cover shows a truck driving on what looks like a country road. The book is profusely illustrated and the Leica glow is easly recognized. I purchased the book directly from the publisher because I've never seen it in the stores. Does that sound like the book you purchased?

Tom, My book is completely in French, all the images are verticals. A large number of the images are taken in the US. Strip malls, highways, trailer parks. Lots of Asian city scapes, lots of images which contain mirrors. Now I am sure they are different books. Jeff
