Published books by photographers using the Pentax 67?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread |
I am wondering if anyone would like to start an ongoing list here, of book titles, photographic books, made by photographers using the Pentax 67 & 67II? If you know some from memory, please post them here as an answer to this. In particular, books in which the bulk of the photographs are P67 derived, as opposed to a book of 125 pictures, in which only 2-3 or whatever were done with the P67.

David Muench's New Mexico I & II are both shot with P67, 4x5 and Leicaflex SL2. More than a few shots are P67. Marc also contributed to these books and he used David's old P67 with 55mm f/3.5 and other Takumars.

Wilderness Reflections by Tim Ernst. Over 90% done with a P67 (he has since switched to 35mm format, but he is an avid hiker). His website was at: http://wilderness.arkansasusa.com/

The West Highland Way by David Paterson and Mike McQueen contains around 90 photographs taken using Pentax 67 systems. This book is about a long walk in the west of Scotland, from just north of Glasgow to Fort William. The photographs vary from good to outstanding, with some of the mountain photographs, particularly those in Glencoe, being about the best I have seen of that area.
They shared the photography equally and went back repeatedly to get perfect lighting, mostly in winter and early spring.
Notes in the form of a diary are by David Paterson, but note this is not a photographic book. What I mean is that there is almost no information about the photography other that to say it is medium format.

ETERNAL AMERICA by Yoshikazu Shirakawa, 1975 features photographs taken with Pentax 6x7 cameras and lens of all types. It is a very large book with both b&w and color photos. Many of the b&w photos were on infared film.

Photographing Plants & Gardens by Clive Nichols, ISBN 0715307150. He uses an Olympus SLR system, Bronica SQ-A and Pentax 67 (the latter with 55mm and 135mm lenses). Plenty of P67 shots, all on Velvia (technical details are provided with each picture).

'Northumbria' by Lee Frost, Constable, UK. 1998 (ISBN 0094774102). This book has a nice selection of landscapes from the English border county of Northumberland. Nearly all were taken using the P67, bar a few Fuji G617 panoramas in the intro and chapter headings. A book called 'Dartmoor', by the same photographer, is also predominantly P67 work. The author has also written a number of instructional books which contain a high proportion of P67 work.

Look at Adriel Heisey's, "Under the Sun: A Sonoran Desert Odyssey." Adriel says he uses both the Pentax 645 and 6x7 systems to shoot from his ultralight.

Glamour photographer Bill Lemon's newest book "Nude and Beauty Photography: Techniques and Images in Black and White" contains all professional photos of women models, artistically done, mostly with the Pentax 67, I'd say about 90%, the rest are with a 35mm Nikon and a Hasselblad 500.
