This will take time to implement, I think we have a month or so before we won't be able to travel freely without searches everywhere. Hopefully I am wrong, but that's my take.

JOJ, I am going to be very blunt. You are being a fool. This country has been living for years on the collective capital of generations of knowledge of God's Word, capital that is now running out. Because we were founded as "one nation, under God", we have been blessed with His protection to a large extent from the kinds of disasters we've seen so much in the news from other countries. But as a people we have turned away from God, to a point where people are bragging about it as you have done, and He is, very justifiably, removing His protection from us. The only remedy is to do just what Doreen said, repent and turn back to God. You may not choose to do so, it's a free country and you have the right to make that choice. But don't complain when we suffer more hurt in the future.

Gee, the religious rantings here sound very similar to statements I heard today MADE BY A CITIZEN OF AFGHANISTAN/THE TALIBAN! He also basically said that "allah" was protecting his country and had for a long time. He pointed out the invasion of Afghanistan by Russia, saying that "because of their invasion, allah had caused Russia to split up into smaller pieces" and that, if the United States invaded his country "allah will split it into 52 small pieces"; all this because of "allah's protection" of his country.

I guess that all religions are really teaching the same things, just under a different name. It also seems that there are fanatics from every religion.

And aint it wonderful, Lisa, that this free country of our guarantees the freedom for EVERY religion, no matter how ridiculous its claims, to have the right to express itself in PUBLIC? Thank GOD we still have our freedoms. The freedom which you exercise by expressing your disgust at our religion, is the very same freedom we exercise when we express verbally and in written form, that which we believe. You want respect for your beliefs? Then show some respect for everyone else's.

By the way, you do believe that all reality is relative, dont you? Who are you to say that your understanding of reality is more correct than ours?

Well...um.....Lisa, I find the man's comments interesting. I wonder why 52? I was impressed with the thought that perhaps we will need to break it down to individual States in order to keep control of things and see that statement as reflective of the thoughts I had.

As to the "fanatics" comment, it is terrifically interesting that the Muslim far right are mandated to kill all infidels and the Christian far right are mandated to die for their faith. It is indeed a jihad, and we are at war in a spiritual sense even more than a physical one.

It's not good at all what is happening and I had no intention to start another Holy War here. Obviously you all know my feelings on it, but what I expressed above was in heart felt concern, I have no interest in fighting about this right now. I'm praying for everyone right now, especially those who are involved in these terrorist groups.

I stand by my original statement. Sorry it offends some of you. Go ahead and believe that "god is on our side". As Lisa said, anyone can make that claim, and most warlike nations seem to believe it. Many also believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny. That doesn't mean they are real. They are all fairy tales.

daffodilady: I never "expressed disgust" for anyone's religion, Christian or Muslim. I was merely pointing out that a member of the Taliban (Muslim) also had the very same thing to say as y'all and we consider these people "fanatics". If one is willing to call these people fanatics, I think they should also look into their own beliefs, especially if they are espousing basically the same thing!

Again, I merely pointed out the similarities between what the others here were saying and what the muslims were saying. I never said (or implied) that I did not "respect" anyone's beliefs at all. But obviously I guess that being shown that the beliefs espoused here were really not different from the ones that the bad "Muslim fanatics" espoused, really exposed a nerve, as well it should. Should be at least something to think about.

Of course there are alot of differences between ALL religions (but then again, there are MANY similarities between all as well). Again, I was merely pointing out that both the Christian person here and the Muslim/Taliban person there were basically saying the same thing, with the same fervor. Both claimed that their god protected, or could remove protection, from their country. I guess my overall point with this was that all Christians nor all Muslims are "fanatics". However, as I clearly pointed out with the above comparison of statements, there are "fanatics" from EVERY religion.
