Eleanor Scott's advice is worthless (Home Repossession Page note: read and question the poster's motive)greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread |
Guys do yoursleves a favour and don't listen to Eleanor. Just finished correlating a report for the law school and she doesn't seem to know the first thing about any kind of law let alone British Finance law. Do yoursleves a favour and if you want to find out about law speak to a professional, a lawyer or other legal professional. With all her talk of free speach I and DPA I wonder if she'll allow this on her site? History will decide.
-- Martin Johanssenn (law@princton.org), September 12, 2001
As you seem to be very educated on British Finance Law I wonder if you could tell us all exactly what Eleanor is getting wrong. You could also enlighten us as to what connection you have to the DPA as you seem to know what they might think.
Also, please can you explain to me, privately if you wish, why you say that thisis 'her site'?

Hi Martin,Great to see you giving input on the site.
Where you have criticism of legal opinions on the site, please specify what is inaccurate and suggest in more detail how the law *does* help repossessees'.
If you do not use the site to directly help repossessees then people will probably get the impression that you don't support the goal of this site and that your motive is questionable.
Being critical is fine - but offer better explanations of what the law can actually do.

I find it curious that someone who criticises Eleanor doesn't actually say WHY her advice is so poor.I also think it suspicious that someone who claims to have finished a report for law school cannot spell (speach/speech, and a suspect eMail address). Whatever else I may think about barristers and their ilk, their English is normally beyond reproach - eloquent, precise and TO THE POINT.
I await Mr Johanssenn's reply with interest...

Hi "Martin Johanssenn",Free speech is very topical at this present time when those who have fought for that right in the civilized world have suffered so badly by the hands of those that would deny it.
I assume that you live in just such a country which is part of the civilized world as you have claimed the right of free speech in your comments. As one who also claims that right I would therefore request that you answer the previous responses and also inform us which law school your report is destined for?
Incidentally I am unable to locate a "princton.org" as in your email address. Did you mean to type "Princeton" as in Princeton University , New Jersey, USA or would it be "Princeton-On-Sea" ? To help you with your reply there is a Law School Worldwide Directory listed at:
http://www.hg.org/schools.html
Best Regards,

This appears to me, to be nothing more than an immature attempt to 'smear' Eleanor ? Not least given its highly unprofessional 'delivery'.It should, in my view, be treated with the contempt it clearly warrants.
It appears that the e-mail address is dubious, perhaps it is just another 'mis-spelling' on his part, and maybe under the all the circumstances, in 'princton' a deletion of the 'n' and the inclusion somewhere of a 'k', would be more accurate ?
Ignore it Eleanor. Best wishes, Vic.

Very well said everyone who has replied to this PERSONS allegations. Maybe the reason this website was set up was because most of us (myself included) had been to see a solicitor first and had not been given the information we were looking for. This PERSON obviously has never been in the same situation as the rest of us having had their homes repossessed. I think he should go and find something else to occupy his little mind and leave us to sort out our lives, and let this website do what it was setup to do. HELP NOT HINDER.

I can only echo what everyone else has said, Eleanor please carry on the good work. If it weren’t for this site I would hate to think where I would be now. It has given me the strength to carry on, and fight for my rights. Well done to all

I haven't been to the site for a while but am appalled to read what has been said about Eleanor! Martin Johanssenn is obviously not someone who has ever had the misfortune of being repossessed, otherwise he would immediately realise that this site - which is not Eleanor's by the way, is a life-line and support network to so many of us. If Martin Johanssenn has never been repossessed i wonder what he was doing on this site...(okay, I've finished wondering, that didn't take long).Chin up Eleanor. I think you are brilliant.

I hate it when people do this, make false claims against a person but have no evidence to substantiate their claim, where have I all this heard this before?

Law is only a matter of interpretation and 12 opions will differ 12 ways,We are here to help each other ,I wonder what you are here for? Martin ,perhaps a failed law exam embitters you, where are your contributions if you are such an expert?Eleanor like myself and other are only here to support frightened embattled individuals that did not have parents to put then through law school and have had to live on their wits in the real world. If you care to challenge my credentials my consumer credit and debt counselling licence are 221556 and mortgage code acreditation 4957122.Go play in the chat rooms martin ,your infantile opinions are not needed here.Put up or shut up!

I have already paid for legal advice and that got me nowhere. The advice on this site is good and Eleanor is one of those who contribute excellent sound advice. If you look at these posts regulary you build up further knowledge and probably have more practical information on the matter than some jumped up pratt from law school (no offence but this is the REAL world mate)or a highly paid solicitor.

Seing mud being thrown at people that are prepared to give up their own time to help others really winds me up but then some people are real sad,go and get a personality transplant I feel sure you are using an alias and your real nam is Richard Head.See you later Dick
