A friend of mine recently purchased a Leicaflex camera (I don't know the model), and would like to know if he can use 1 and 2 cam lenses with this camera. If so, which lenses couple with the light meter? I use an M6 and am not familiar with the Leicaflex camera and lenses. Also, can he use the 3 cam lenses designed for use with the R6, for example? Thanks in advance for your help.

Depends on which model of Leicaflex. Most 2-cam and 3-cam lenses will work, and 1-cam lenses can be used with some qualifications. 1-cam lenses were made for the original Leicaflex with the non-TTL light meter. The Leicaflex SL and SL2 can use these lenses with stop- down metering, but were made for 2-cam lenses. Most 2-cam lenses work fine on any Leicaflex, the exceptions are the 16mm fisheye, 24mm Elmarit-R and the old 80-200 f/4.5 zoom (don't confuse this with the current 80-200 f/4 zoom). The reason these 3 lenses don't work on the SL and original Leicaflex is the clearance between the rear element and the reflex mirror. Same with 3-cam lenses. The Leicaflex being referred is an original 1966 model with serial number 1151335 with a Summicron-R 2/50 serial number 2175463. What is the cam number for such a lenses and can this lens be applied onto a regular R3-R8 outfit?Alfie
