some 35´s on my M3

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

This were made with a M3 and 35/2.8 Summaron.

In the Parliament, Mexico City, 1989; I better say no more; we can be very sensitive about politics.

This is one of my very favorites, is in my home town 1998, I love the relationship of the two bases, one of music and one of society.

Mexico city; this was asked by Pilar, she loves this ballons sellers.

Mexican undergroung, even a leica was too obtrusive, I did this from my hip, in a couple of shoots,1/15 2.8, and this was the second; I knew I was very lucky.

Roberto

These are amazingly great shots! How many more will you pour out? There's poetry showing up in them, a great eye for composition and a very careful, humane attitude. Thanx for sharing & keep going!

I modified your original posting. For each image, I replaced the slash (/) after "photo_id" with an equal sign (=). I do not know why it was incorrect in the first place. Also, I removed all but the first <center> tags as they were unnecessary, and I replaced them with <p> tags to ensure a blank line between each one. Then, at the bottom, I added the concluding </center> tag to turn off centering.

Roberto,

You are proving what I have been saying for the last couple of years... computers and cameras are mutually exclusive. There is an underlying sentiment that if you don't have a website and post everything you have ever shot, then you are not a real photographer. Also conversely, simply having a website loaded with fluff makes you a photographer.

Your pictures from the 1980's are excellent and in no way reduced in relevance because it is only now that they have been manipulated into JPEG's. I suspect that for many of us, there are many great unseen pictures being held as old fashion prints and slides that will never be scanned. The computer is simply ANOTHER medium to show your work... not the ONLY medium.

Thank you for sharing your pictures here. The photo with the balloons was a very difficult lighting situation that could have fooled many modern cameras with sophisticated metering systems. To do such a great job with a meterless M3 is a good compliment to the photographer. Good job!

Lovely, I just want to go out and take some photos after seeing these, I first got inpired by photography in 1997 when I happened across a HCB exhibition. This is actually what made me covet a Leica, and it is all too easy to spend too much time considering the equipment rather than the results. I think both are important, but with about a 80/20 ratio in favour of the user over what is used. You just have to keep reminding yourself of this.

R Watson:

Very nice photos! Especially #1 and #4. #3 is also nice, but too small on my monitor! Perhaps you can post a larger version. You were certainly "lucky" with #4. :-) It is very well composed, and hard to believe that you were shooting from the hip! The expression on the woman's face makes you wonder what is bothering her. You should post a link to these photos on LUG and LEG..........................

Yes, photo.net and all the images posted thereon, are temporarily unavailable due to a server change over. Probably won't be long before they're all up again.

Roberto:

Since you have 4 years of film waiting in the freezer to be developed, have you considered using a reliable professional lab to develop it and perhaps make contact sheets for you? Then you can concentrate on your photography and still do the enlargements at home if you so desire.

For all my B&W work, I use the San Miguel Photo Lab (www.bestlab.com) in New Mexico. Their prices are reasonable, and they take very good of your negatives..............
