Leica Leitz Wetzlar 245067

Can you provide some historical information on the Leica D.R.P. Ernst Leitz Wetzlar, #245067. I am using this camera in a museum exhibit on tourism and postcards, and all I know is that the donor bought the camera in Germany around 1938 (he says).

My book has the serial number range of 245001 to 245100 as being produced in both 1937 and 1938, so your camera is probably closer to the 1938 range based on the numbers.

It is a Leica IIIa (or model G) which was produced from 1935-1948.

Just contact some one in Mazatlan, she has a camera that belongs to her father, is a leica III a 50/2 summar and a 90/4 elmar I belive, lenses are full of fungus, and camera was tramp, thatīs what I though, after seeing it carefuly, dicover that film inside hadnīt been propely cut and was mix with coutines, I took film out and wind the camera and fire it and is OK; isnīt it incredible, and speeds were fine, I gave Lourdes a short lesson and she promised to start taking pictures.

Jeanne Marie; you have a piece of museum, if you can, load it with film and shoot it, in order to keep it fine mecanicaly, would be great for it.
