I found this on a discussion page, someone's view of "Why they hate us". What do you think?

Here I offer for your consideration, a small sampling of some of the 'nation building' our corrupt  government engages in.First and foremost, we have to look at the illegal state of israel. The  israeli's have committed countless human rights violations, U.N. resolutions,and international laws since it's inception with the blessing as well as the financing by the U.S. government. I'm sure that these are very familiar to all.These attrocities alone constitute enough hatred to explain why we are hated. However, allow me the opportunity to add just a few more. <p>

                    Cuba 1963 - today - US blockades island for 39 years. Numerous
                    assassination attempts against leader. Continued actions condemned by Human

                    Lebanon 1982-84 - US bombs and shells Muslim positions, expels PLO from
                    territory.
                    Grenada 1983-84 - US military invades tiny island. 400 Grenadians killed.
                    'Gross violation' of international law condemned by United Nations.
                    Iraq 1987-88 - US supports and arms Saddam Hussein's Iraq in war against Iran.
                    Iran 1988 - US shoots down Iranian passenger airliner, killing 290
                    civilians. Claims it was an 'accident'.
                    Libya 1989 - US bombs capitol Tripoli killing 55 civilians. Calls it
                    'collateral damage'.
                    Philippines 1989 - US supports corrupt govt of Ferdinand Marcos against
                    citizen uprising.
                    Panama 1989 - US invades with 27,000 soldiers. Kills 3000+ Panamanians,
                    kidnaps it's own installed drug-dealing leader and CIA asset. Illegal US
                    actions condemned by nearly unanimous United Nations and Organization of
                    American States.
                    Kuwait 1991 - US invades Middle East, contradicting its position by
                    intervening in inter-Arab affairs. Returns Kuwaiti Monarchy accused of
                    human right abuses to throne.
                    Iraq 1990 - today - US randomly bombs civilian areas. Blockades Iraqi
                    ports, allows no humanitarian or medical aid. est. 10,000 Iraqi's
                    starve/die monthly as result.
                    Bulgaria 1991 - CIA funnels millions to destabilize one of the first freely
                    elected governments.
                    Somalia 1992-94 - US sends in humanitarian aid. Becomes involved in Civil
                    war, takes sides attacking one Mogadishu faction. Kills 500+ Somalis.
                    Peru 1992 - 01 - US provides military support, millions of dollars to
                    corrupt Fujimori government. Drug kingpin Vladimir Montesino on CIA payroll
                    while serving as Intelligence Chief. Involved directly in shooting down
                    missionary aircraft, killing American woman and her infant child.
                    Colombia 1992 - present - US supports Colombian military, heavily involved
                    in drug trafficking. 1,640 pounds of cocaine lands in Ft. Lauderdale
                    Florida hidden inside Colombian Air Force cargo plane. Nearly 20,000 people
                    killed by US supported military and para-military so far.
                    Bosnia 1993 - US naval blockade of Serbia and Montenegro.
                    Haiti 1994 - US blockades island government, CIA supports military coup to
                    remove elected President Aristide, then forcibly re-installs Aristide as
                    President after he agrees to US conditions of rule.
                    Sudan 1998 - US bombs Aspirin Factory in Khartoum killing civilians.

Well, here's today's brain teaser.

OK, so they hate us for all this stuff.

(That list is highly selective, by the way ... for example, it ignores all of the humanitarian and foreign aid that the United States does on a routine basis, but hey; I'll play. Let's take it at face value.)

Russia is helping us. Osama and the TaliBOOM know this. Not too long ago, the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and tried -- quite brutally, at times -- to force a communist government on its people. The "list" that I could compile for them would make this "list" pale by comparison.

Now: here's the Brain Teaser.

In spite of this, the Northern Alliance is glad to accept their help. Why is that?

Even better question: how come the Taliban hasn't threatened to cause a "storm of planes" on RUSSIA?

Answer these teasers and a light will begin to dawn.

Sorry, I should've replied sooner. I must learn to pay attention. :)

The question was mostly rhetorical; I thought the answer was obvious. But since you ask ...

Again: the "list" that could be compiled for the Russians (nee Soviet Union) would eclipse the one above. The one for Communist China would be even longer.

The Soviet Union and Chinese have sorely persecuted religious minorities in the past. Islamic people haven't fared any better than Christians in communist regimes; in some cases, they have fared WORSE.

And yet, the Islamic people in the Middle East and Asia don't burn Russian or Chinese flags. They will occasionally refer to Russia as another "Satan," be *WE* are the "Great Satan." They hardly mention China at all.

Again I ask rhetorically: WHY is this so?

Yes, part of this is because we support Israel while, on the other hand, Russia and China have sold them weapons to use AGAINST Israel. But we're not the only nation that supports Israel; how come they've singled us out?

Another clue: Jordan, Egypt and Syria have done very little to help the Palestinians.

(They remind me of the pious Northerners who railed against the evils of slavery in the South and then said, "now, hold on a minute!" when displaced, unemployed blacks tried to move North to make a living after the Civil War. "They're not OUR problem, they're YOUR problem!")

But more than anything, this is a religious problem. Johnny, when people like me point out that they resent us for being successful, I'm not just speaking about material things. Speaking as a religious person, I can understand this.

To give you an example, many traditional, mainline Christians view the Latter Day Saints (Mormons) as a direct threat, because their churches have experienced such phenomenal growth. Now couple that with a 10th-century mindset and you'll begin to see the light.

You see, according to the Koran, the Judeo-Christian worldview was NOT supposed to succeed; THEY were. Mohammed said so. The Koran says so. Just keep yer women wrapped up and in the kitchen, don't smoke or drink or cuss (too much), and Allah Will Bless You.

Just you wait and see, said Mohammed.

And yet, here we sit, a gigantic poke in their eye.

Nor do I mean to imply that you can entirely ignore the economic side of this. Mohammed was quite wealthy and taught that there was nothing wrong with making an honest living off of trade. He (and the Koran) clearly taught that its adherents would be the richest, sturdiest and most "blessed," because THEY had the True Path To Allah.

Again: here we sit, a gigantic poke in the eye to what they believe.

Maybe that'll give you an idea. Whether I'm right or wrong in my *reasoning* for *why* they hate us, though, the fact that they DO so unreasonably is not in question.

Again: compare the lists and the historical record, and you'll see what I'm saying. For ever "bad" thing that we've done in the foreign arena (and yeah, we've made some big ones!), I can point to other nations that have done FAR worse. And yet, *WE* are the Great Satan.

Go figure. :)
