Everything from step one on up so I do not have to buy meal worms.

OK, here goes, I use a plastic box it is about the size of a cowboy boot shoe box with a lid, drill air holes in the lid, mine has about twenty 1/4 inch sized holes in the lid and about 7 holes along the upper edge of the box on each of the long sides. I put in some paper egg carton like 1/2 of a dozen size carton, they like to lay some eggs on it and hide under it, pour in 1/2 inch of course grade (it's size-able flakes not a fine powder) plain millers wheat bran, and your 1st set of mealworms and a small potato cut in 1/2,this is their water source, check often for excess moisture which will cause mold, the worms will become pupae, shed and become adults lay eggs and so on, as long as you keep the food and water coming, a couple times a year add some new worms to refresh the breeding stock, you can also feed them some fish food to enhance the nutrients in their bodies. I've had mine so long I can't remember how long one cycle takes, but after a while you will have all stages at the same time, with flushes of adults and so forth. I just dump the waist powder in the flower bed and pour more wheat bran in as needed, add potato as needed. Thats about it,the only hard part is picking the worms out of the wheat bran. I guess my favoite way to get them out was to wet a small piece of carpeting, lay it on top upside down, and set the box out in the sun, the worms will crawl up into the carpet piece, then I could shake them out of it, and pick them out.

Hi,Meal worms, eh? My first job was working a biology lab. We raised and fed meal worms to everything from salamanders to catfish. All they were were cockroaches in a fish tank with shredded newspaper. We threw the remains of our lunches in everyday. Apparently they must have reproduced fantastically. There were always plenty of meal worms (the larval stage)to feed. They're not really as gross as you would think. The aquarium never smelled. I don't remember ever cleaning it. The meal worms were, well, let's just say I always thought they'd taste pretty good sauteed in butter.
