baking powder recipe

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

A few months ago someone asked for a baking powder recipe using baking soda. I have looked in the old threads and couldn't find it. I have also went to waltonfeed.com and that wasn't what I'm looking for. Could someone please help me out? Thanks a million!

Two parts baking soda to one part cream of tartar. See Tightwad Gazette newsletters or books. That's where I read about it. Hope this helps.

OK - which receipt for baking powder is correct of the 2 given above? Or are they both OK - just different?

Ok Trish, this is straight out of the book... To make what would equal 1 teaspoon of baking powder use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar. :-D
