25/2.8 sighting, 1.25 mag.greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
I've listed this under Leica M because the body I saw was a bayonet mount body. Top plate was a lot like an Ig, if you know what that looks like, chrome (shiny) film counter dial (like an M3), and it had a 25/2.8 mounted on it. All very new looking (but from the 50's apparently). I thought I was just going in to buy a 1.25 magnifier and there was this gorgeous camera in the hands of the customer next to me. Anyway, about the magnifier, nice build quality and packaging as Jay has mentioned, but it seems that a real benefit is to right eyed photographers with .72 bodies who want to keep the left eye open. I'm left eyed but I find the effect amazing. I'm considering switching.

Well, Jim, you've got me all baffled. Was this a non-Leica brand, I assume? And the lens as well, since I think Leica's is a 24mm. Could it have been a Hexar? And you're considering switching to it? Or is it the 1.25 magnifier you're switching to? Did you get the magnifier?

. . . or just switching from left eyed to right eyed . . .?-Iván

I asume you were looking at a post camera or a MDa (both had no viewfinders and automaticly resetting film counter). Leica did prototype a 25/2.8 but I have only seen grainy reprints of a picture of one. Perhaps it was a true post camera with its special 35/2.8 lens? If by shiny chrome you meant a M2 style rewind counter, then a MD was probably what you were looking at.Cheers,

Sounds like you saw a new Bessa T... But I'm not even sure I understand what your question is!

Jim: was this by any chance what you saw? (but with a 25?) If so, the V'lander 25 is an f/4.Others: In case you haven't seen the 'collectible' Voigtlander Bessa-T Commemorative!!

Well, it wasn't a question. And it wasn't a Bessa T either. No viewfinder or rangefinder. Two accessory shoes, M mount, Leica script on the front and a Leica 25/2.8. I thought it was interesting. Also interesting is that the price of the 1.25 was 450,000 Italian Lire which is about $225, I believe. Pretty much what I've seen for the list price elsewhere.

Jim, of course you bougth it, do you?, your last description seems familiar to me. I remember something like that from a Lager collectors book.
