The urge to store up ??greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread |
Hi everyone. I do not know if this will work, but I saw this story about bio-terror and our food supply. (None has happened, but they discuss the ease of contamination).. http://www.rense.com/general15/terroristthreatfood.htm Maybe that will get you there. It has a link to the origional at the bottom of the page. I do not know the credibility of these sites, but I know it gives new meaning to being stocked up and growing your own stuff.

I have seen several articles like this and discussions on it. A number of us have had the urge to stock up at least since this past summer. There is a thread in the archives on it. Events since writing that thread have shown that there is a reason to stock up and be as prepared as possible. Contamination of food (in several different ways) is definately possible, as is the possiblity of being quarantined (if smallpox or something similiar breaks out). There are many possible scenarios that seem to be coming more probable every day that make it foolish to not stock up and be prepared. I know we can't be prepared for everything but we are doing our best!

I agree with Deena. It looks like things are going to get really bad -- anything we can do *now* (as in immediately -- don't wait) to be prepared to take care of ourselves when that happens will reduce the burden on the infrastructure. The government is TOTALLY unprepared to take care of us in any serious emergency, so don't expect them to come through for you.

I agree in that in the event of anything major happening in this country the govt simply cannot respond and take care of all of us - especially if there are multiple outbreaks / emergencies to deal with all at the same time. There is no Civil Defense programs in place right now for you and I. Our society had become hostage of the MAD (mutual assured destruction) theory, but in the case of terrorists, MAD isn't applicable. Trust in the Lord and don't be anxious, but do use the gifts He has given you to prepare yourself as much as possible!

Was just reading a report that Ashcroft, in an interview, was recommending the storing of at least 10 days food supply (by each family) -- the person doing the interview added afterwards that if the government was recommending 10 days worth, we'd better make it a lot longer. I hope a lot of people saw that and heeded it.
