I have a no-cook recipe: 2Cups sugar1 Stick butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons cocoa
Mix all in a heavy skillet and cook to soft ball stage.
***( A little tip. If you raise the spoon you are stirring with and let most of mixture run off, then drop a small drop in a glass of water and the drop stays solid then it is ready: no thermometer. If it dissolves quickly then it needs to cook longer.)
Then remove from heat and add:
3 Tablespoons peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
Stir and quickly drop by the spoonful onto foil or wax paper.
It is ready to eat as soon as it cools enough to not burn your mouth.

Thank you, Nobody! Woulda been days before I could find my recipe. Yours is the same. Careful, these are addictive. But, I'm told that if you eat these babies with a Diet Coke, the calories will all be cancelled out. Some odd chemical reaction, I guess. :)

Nobody, Is what you are referring to "soft ball" stage?

Lynn, just came across your request for No-Bake Cookies. In fact, I was munching on one of my No-Bake Cookies as I clicked on to your post. How weird is that?? I made them last night after supper because I was wanting something fudgy and sweet. This is my most favorite cookie to make. No baking and no flour to mess with. I have a simpler way of making it and a lot faster. So here it is. Make sure you pick a dry day to make them, as humidity affects how these cookies set up. Just like not making fudge on a rainy day. K, here it is:Carol's Cocoa Cookies 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup cocoa 1/2 cup milk 1 stick butter (stick oleo is fine to use also and cheaper) 1 teaspoon vanilla Salt 1/2 cup peanut butter (creamy style) 3 cups oatmeal
Combine in pan, sugar, cocoa, milk, and butter. Place pan on medium heat. Cook for 1 minute after mixture comes to a rolling boil. (No need to use candy thermometer or cold water test). Take pan off heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla, TINY pinch of salt, peanut butter, and oatmeal. Mix well, until it starts to thicken and loose a bit of its' gloss (just a few minutes of stirring time), and drop by teaspoons onto a lightly buttered cookie sheet. Let dry til good and firm, again this will take only a few minutes to set up. Then grab you a big glass of milk and ENJOY!!
