I have a billy I have been using about a year old.But he is not working out for us.I want to butcher him,what I need to know do I need to get him fixed frist then wait so meat will not have oder or what.Thanks also have the same question for a ram that is older.Pastor Hughes

Yes, both the goat and ram will be strong. I would suggest some type of sausage or even better smoked kielbasi. Have made both and both work out well. The kielbasi is a bit more expensive (unless you make it yourself)but I think better . Good Luck Ralph

I don't know about the goat, but I got really aggravated at a breeding ram once - he was probably less than 2 yrs old as memory allows - and loaded him up & took him to the butcher. Couldn't tell the meat from lamb. Go figure. L.

You may ant to wait until he is out of rut and then give him a bath a few days before butchering him. I cannot imagine that the meat would be very palatable if you butcher him now.
