Hood for Summaron 35 3.5? And Summarit 50 1.5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Hi, first time posting on here... I have a 35mm Summaron 3.5, with eyes, and would like to know which is the best lens hood for this camera.

Also have a 50mm 1.5 Summarit, what is the best hood for this?

(MY body is a double stroke M3)

Thanks! Phillip

Considering what a hood for a Summarit costs ($150+), I'd use my hand. I have a ill fitting rubber Minolta hood I use on my 'rit if I need one, I think it's a 40.5mm so with a bit of tape it'll stay on.

Philip,

I have a summaron 2.8/35 which I use together with a 12585 hood. Yours should accept that hood as well. Another option is any 3rd party E39 screw-in hood like Hoya or Hama - the 12585 is quite expensive - it may cost you new almost as much as a used 3.5/35 ;-(

Phillip: I also have a 35 f:3.5 Summaron with eyes. I have an IROOA hood on it. I can also use a 12585 hood or the newer replacement for the 50 Summicron. The 12585 is a little easier to use with the viewfinder as it has cutouts in it, and you can use a 55mm snap in lenscap on the end of the hood for protection.
