Hello Paul, The influenza outbreak in 1918-1919 was called the Spainish Flu but, it did not originate in Spain. Ironically, its origins were trace to a military base in the mid-west. It was responsible for 5 million deaths! 500,000 in Mexico, 550,000 in the US. 21,000 in Canada. It swept across Europe and was a believed reason why WWI was so quick in ending. The Germans contracted it and due to the shortage of available manpower they pretty much lost the war. FYI Sincerely, Ernest
