Saw this on ebay today, and was not aware Canon ever made lenses for Leica M mount. Thought someone might be interested in it. Canon 35mm f2.0 M mount

It's the 35/2 Canon made for its RF cameras w/a LTM-to-M adapter mounted. Nice lens w/a good reputation, though.

Andrew:I have one of these lenses. On my lens the focus mount is a little bit loose. I have not used it much over the 25 years since I acquired it new. Mine is older, has not been cleaned and does not show evidence of fogging that this vintage of Leica glass is known for. The lens in the picture does have a LTM to M adapter. If one buys this lens, check to make sure it is the proper adapter for the 35 framing in the viewfinder. The lens requires a special filter size 40mm fine, or an adapter to a size of your choice. I use a Tiffen 40F to series 6 adapter.

You are right, as I look closer at it, I can see the adapter. They should have mentioned this on ebay, but like many of the sellers of classic equipment, they probably no little about what they are selling.

Assuming the glass is in good condition does anyone know how this lens performs compared to other LTM lenses that might be available for $300 or less. I asked a question last week on a Canon 50/1.8 and the responses were very helpfull. I think I might be leaning towards a 35mm now. I would love the Ultron 1.7 but maybe there is a better choice for a 2.0 lens or faster. In a previous life I had a Summaron 35/3.5 and I wasn't really that impressed. I am currently using a Jupiter 35 and while I like it, only opens to 2.8 and it is pretty soft until 4.0.

I've had one for years. Very sharp and contrasty, but the workmanship is not quite as good as the contemporary Summicron. For more details, see my web site for more details.

Tom I am interested in your real life experience with this lens. Most lenses are good stopped down. How is this lens wide open with constrast and sharpness. For some reason the link to your site wouldn't work.
