Approaching this time of year I find that I have trouble spending $35.00 for a bottle of Drambuie, our favorite liquore (our means me and my invisable dog), years ago when I had money to waste I attended a bartending school, there was a recipie for the same conserning substitues; it was scotch and honey with liqurice (I can't spell). Other substitues recipies are welcome, also.

I have made a homemade Bailey's substitute (whiskey, condensed milk etc etc). Is this the kind of thing you are looking for?

Hi Mitch, complete recipes from me this time, not like the ice cream advice I posted for you (sorry). These are our 2 favorite holiday spirits to mix up at home, since they are both expensive to buy. They make nice gifts for people that appreciate Bailey's or Kahlua.Kahlua: 1 quart water, 2 1/2 cups sugar, 3 Tablespoons instant coffee, 1 Tablespoon vanilla, 2 1/2 cups vodka Bring water, sugar and coffee to a boil in a saucepan, simmer VERY slowly for 3 hours, mixture will be very dark and syrupy, cool, add vanilla and vodka, makes 7 cups. We find this is best after it ages for a few days to a week.
Bailey's Irish Cream 3 eggs, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 1/3 Tablespoons chocolate syrup, 10 oz whiskey (or brandy), 1 heaping teaspoon instant coffee, 1 12 oz carton coffee rich, drop almond flavoring (if desired) Put eggs in blender, mix lightly, add sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup, blend 3 minutes, add whiskey(brandy), instant coffee, coffee rich and almond flavoring, blend 7 minutes, makes one full blender container, pour into bottles, store in refrigerator up to 2 weeks, shake well before serving. The blending is the key to this recipe, if you don't have a blender, not sure how you could make it.
Enjoy!

Ah, more fun playing detective on Google! Try this link, Mitch:I recommend you try the one called Honey Liqueur, because it has Angelica Root flavoring in it, and Angelica tastes like licorice. Basing this on your description, I've never had Drambuie. Here's the direct lin k
Here's another possible, but it isn't coming up just now, try later: http://liquor-recipes.com/
