Hi all!
-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001
Greetings from the night shift.Still can't get into hotmail. I might cry if it keeps up for too much longer.
I'm tempted to update tomorrow, but then I'm also tempted to wait until the 19th so it's a full month without an entry. How sad will that be? I'm such a slacker.
Things are well, except for these lunatic hours. I went on the radio in Cheyenne tonight and boldly predicted a Wyoming victory, so of course they go out and shit the bed against USC. Still, it's good to know I'm big in Yellowstone.
T, is Chris planning on going to the Orange Bowl if Maryland makes it there?
That's all I have, except that I'm sorry I missed the MATH+1 furor. I'd have liked to add that everyone has the right to criticize whatever they want, this being America, but that doesn't mean it's always fair to do so and people shouldn't be too surprised when the target of criticism ignores what they have to say. I mean, do I care if total strangers hate one of my entries?
-- Anonymous, November 13, 2001
Say it anyway!I too am sorry I missed the WG smackdown. Poor girl. Thought she'd have a breakdown.
Is it okay to be slightly annoyed that the first recognition of my journal came from something I didn't even write? Oh well. It's hits, right?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Hey, y'all.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Morning!I, too, am in the "say it anyway" camp, M. Stee and Teri opened it back up for discussion, looks like.
H, don't be annoyed. Mine isn't even for writing at all. Not that I'm any less excited.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I opened it back up for discussion, but I still don't understand the whole mess one itsy bit. Was it really WG's few sentences on MBTV that riled Omar? Is there more to the story that we don't know?AB, are you in town on Thursday or Friday? So confused, I am.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
la la la la la
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
My flight gets in tomorrow at 8:57, I think?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I think Omar was riled about something else regarding MBTV and perhaps the WG thing aggravated it? I don't know. I chimed in as well.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Blam! I'm in.
I hate it when Mike's on nights. I miss him. I also hate it that he didn't tell us he was going to be on the radio so that we could have listened to it via the web. Because that would have made me very happy, to hear Berman wheeling and dealing with the five people living in WY.
AB will be here tomorrow night! HAHAHAHAH! We are going to Tear It Up. Somehow. I don't even care what we do. It will be nice to chill and play songs. AB, is Vince bringing a guitar? Or is that too much of a pain? We WILL speak on the telephonic device this evening. I guess I'm sick of my not-talking-to-anybody policy. No way to live.
I wrote a song this morning! We maybe finish this weekend! It not so good yet. Need Chao touch.

God, y'all, I just feel so out of it. But, I had a lovely dinner with Chris' father last night in DC, and I caught an earlier flight back to Atlanta, and I got bumped to first class! Woo hoo! On my flights to and from National, I spend the full first 30 minutes of each flight trying to figure out who the Sky Marshal was. On the flight back, I thought I had him pegged, but then that guy took a nap. I figured that Sky Marshals probably aren't allowed to sleep. What I can't figure out, though, is whether Marshall has one L or two. Oh well. And THEN, I find out that the Jacksons are on TV and not only am I not watching it, I didn't even know that it was on! So sad.Anyway. AB, you arrive at 8:57? I think I fly in to Atlanta from Missouri at 9:15 tomorrow... What airline are you flying?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
T - you're just going to MO for one night?I DID watch the Jackson 5 thing, after you called. God y'all, Michael's a scary looking thing.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Yes, Allison, I love it how I've called you EVERY NIGHT this week, and still haven't heard your lovely voice. No, Vince Chao no bringing guitar, but! You have the lovely black Takamine to play. Also: his flight gets in around midnight. Sadness, because we have to go to the airport twice. Or maybe we can find someplace to have a drink nearby, so the drive is not so long.
I'm flying AirTran, T. And y'all, I couldn't remember what it was all yesterday and this morning to look up my flight info. I'm a tard.
Al, what do I wear? We are not going anywhere fancy-schmancy, are we? You say! AB need to pack tonight.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Say what you will about Michael - he looks like an alien, yes - but DAMN! I mean, DAAAAAMN. The man was amazing. He's a big freak, but when he and his brothers did ABC and I Want You Back, we were dancing around like fools.
And may I just say that Whitney Houston was looking and sounding great, and I was pleased to see that.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Oh, no. Midnight at the Airport. That's going to be my next song. It ok. We wait for him in bar. Maybe we pick up, maybe we forget.
You wear whatever you want, AB. I don't expect we'll be needing to get all semi-formal at any point. I mean, it's just my house.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I'm just going to scenic Springfield, MO, for the day. Alas, no Branson for me. Springfield is worldwide HQ for Bass Pro Shops, though, and their flagship store has more visitors every eyar than the Gateway Arch. Bet y'all didn't know that.Anyway, AB, I'm parking Fancy at the airport, so if y'all want, I can drive AB to the House of Lowe/Huff, and then you'll only have to make one trip to the airport to fetch Vince at midnight.
Ooh - what are y'all's lunch plans for Friday?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Good, Al, because I am bringing only khakis and jeans. Maybe one skirt.T, I think I maybe need Al Lowe to pick me up at airport. But maybe we see you, since our flights get in at almost the same time!
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
We shall see...
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Hell, we're ALL going to be at the airport. If the mayoral election of Atlanta was resolved, I'd have Shirley Franklin, the allege mayor- elect come meet you, too.
T, I had already planned to be there, so we'll all hang out togetha. Maybe we'll take AB to East Point to my friend Shaun's house and hang out with him until we have to go back to get V. Chao. I don't know. Maybe we'll chill in the airport lounge and drink rum and cokes.
Hey, re: Shelby Lynne's new album. I have decided that I SORT OF like #s 6-10. But only sort of. Nothing near the love I felt for her last album. And, y'all, she looks like WHYTE TRAYSH on the cover of this one. I love the girl, but she's gotten all ensnared with Glenn Ballard, who produced Jagged Little Pill for Alanis Morrisette, and who, though he is from Natchez or somewhere like that, is now this big, LA, guru guy who dresses in all white and ruins people like Shelby on a daily basis.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Yes! Hanging with T in airport, rum and coke, all good idea! That's what Vince was telling me about Glenn Ballard, Al. He even did an impression of what Shelby's songs must sound like now. Hee.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Oh, y'all, I'm all about a rum & coke in the airport. There's a Houlihan's there in the main terminal, y'all, for real.God. I feel like I've been working my tail off and I am so convoluted, what with the trips and the meetings, but it is SO NICE when it feels like everything in my life is coming together. My meeting tomorrow, my wedding, seeing cool people this weekend - all of it.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I'm jealous of all the people in ATL. Alas.I love how the MOC all lays it down in the bashing thread and makes everyone see the light. He's like the Lone Wise Man.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Y'all. Please. Go here:
Shit!Try this.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Heeeee. Do you think that's real? Seriously.AB - why did Keli go on hiatus?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I had to administer a small amount of smack on the bashing thing.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I did done read that.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Allison, child, you are gifted with tact. Such a good thing, tact is.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Re: Keli's hiatus--Is her entire site down? She is having a lot, and I do mean a LOT, of personal problems. Number one being, she's breaking up with her boyfriend and moving out. I'm glad for her, because he's King of the Jags, but I know it's going to be very hard.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
It is one of the many good things I inherited from Bill Lowe. There were some bad things I got from him, too, but he was a tactful guy, unlike JoLo who has zero ability to keep her mouth shut.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I am more like JoLo. That is why she adores me.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
AB, they're breaking up? From what you said, he sounded like a total jag, so I'm glad she's moving on, but I can't imagine how hard that must be. I hope her boys are okay.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
AB, you seriously are a LOT like JoLo. That's scary, but funny.
See, I hardly know anything about Keli, but I'm glad she's booting the guy if he's bad to her. Nobody should live with someone who's an ass.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
For sure.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Yes, he is a big loser, from what she's told me. And he is being all vindictive now that they're splitting, doing things like cancelling her e-mail/site (I'm surprised it's still up), and her cell phone, and all that. Because, of course, it was all in his name. I hate that. I know she'll be better off without that fool.Y'all, I went shopping at lunch. Is that bad?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Crap. AB. When's your birthday? Did I miss it, somehow? Am I clazy? Was it the 9th?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
AB, that's awful! Is he he controlling type? The house is hers, right?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
No, fool. It's the 25th. Next Sunday, even!
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
No! That is what really sucks--he is having HER move out. Her dad just moved to Cincinnati, so I think she is going to stay with him for a while.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Because her ex has custody, right?AB - you'll be 26?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Right. And yes, 26. And I got carded for cigarettes this morning, and I think this was the first time I've been kind of happy about it.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Why you L_L me?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I solly.T - you and Chris will both be in NO for Tday, right?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
We will be in New Orleans, along with 42 of our closest friends and relatives. I have no idea where everyone's sleeping.Oh! Did I tell y'all about my mother and our house being in the paper this coming Saturday because of our Thanksgiving?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
No! Is it online somewhere?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Why did I think the 9th? I am not myself lately.
The MOC will be enduring a very weird, possibly sad Thanksgiving at the Lowe house in B'ham. JoLo is doing the full regalia and cooking for three days, as usual. She said she couldn't imagine not doing it, and that Daddy would be mad if we didn't. She is probably right. I guess it would be weird not to have regular Thanksgiving, but we always go out and get a tree the next day, and that will be very awful, I'm afraid, because that was his favorite thing to do.
AB, I hope you know... Alabama and Auburn play this Saturday and I have to be watching that. If Alabama does bad, I may break everything in site, and then we can go shopping for new stuff.
T, if you and Chris want to come over to watch that, it would be really fun. Prepare to see me at my worst, though. We'll cook greasy game food, and get day drunk and play guitar.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
I.Am.
HERE!!
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Whee! Bermanator!Ooh, Al, shopping and football and guitar and day-drinking? I'm all over it.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Berman! How's life?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Busy. Lot of basketball to worry about. But I actually think I can make 50,000 words on the novel by Dec. 1. I'm at about 20,000 now, which isn't far behind schedule.
Of course, the big DC Goodwill Used Book sale starts tomorrow, so that may kill some valuable writing time...
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
AB, it will be featured in the Times-Picayune this Saturday! Very exciting stuff.Al, I would LOVE more than anything to come over Saturday afternoon. I probably will - Chris and I have to do that five-mile race early Sat. am, and I have a baby shower that afternoon (that I JUST received the invite for yesterday, so we'll see). I have two showers on Sunday afternoon that I completely forgot about. What are y'all plans for Saturday night?
So anyway. Saturday. I will definitely be at your house at some point in time. I am so damn convoluted right now, it's just sad. ANd I found out ten minutes ago that I have another trip to DC the Monday after Thanksgiving.
Allison, I think it will be good to do Thanksgiving the way Bill Lowe would like it. Maybe y'all could have a Crimson Tide tree this year, with little elephants and plaid hats. For real.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Berman - are you still shut out of hotmail? That shit sucks.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Hotmail is the worst email ever. Every time I try to reply to an email in that account, my machine crashes.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Well, it's weird. My IE isn't configured right or something, because I got in fine on another machine. But why would I be locked out of there and fine over here?
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Because Hotmail is evil. I think it depende on your access speed, maybe? I can't reply from work ot home, but I can on my mother's cable modem. Odd.Mike, where is the Orange Bowl? I finally learned the history of the Egg Bowl, which is what my family will be watching on Thanksgiving day.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Miami.
-- Anonymous, November 14, 2001
Oh, then I doubt he'd make it, mainly because of his court schedule.
