Filters

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I just received two filters from the "Filtershop" (http:// members.aol.com/filtershop/). Shipment was prompt and the filters were just as advertised. I recommend this source!

I bought a yellow and a multicoated skylight in E39 mount for my soon to arrive new 35mm Summicron. I was told that the Heliopan E39 filters aren't available in the new thin mounts but since the Heliopan filters seem to be common on Leica lenses, I'm assuming that the robust mounts don't vignette on the 35 Summicron. I've also got a Voigtlander 25. I wonder if anyone has an experience using the std. Heliopan filters on the 25, or possibly the Voigtlander 21, which also uses an E39 filter.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Last weekend I shot some colour neg material with a Voigtlander 21mm on a IIIf. I used a Hoya 39mm Sky 1B. It's not a thin filter and I had no problems. Worked just fine. I also used the new CV rectangular lens shade for the 21 or 25 which I liked a lot.

The last time I bought filters I checked the Filtershop but the prices seemed higher and the inventory more limited than B&H.

I also got a good deal on a new B+W Circular Polarizer from Don Chatterton.

I looked at B&H's site yesterday. I was going to order a skylight filter in 46mm but it wasn't clear to me that B&H had the SH-PMC multicoated Heliopan in any of the sizes. Maybe I missed the multicoated UV and skylights - On a glance, I just saw the regular coated filters.

Yes, the filtershop has a limited selection. But, the service was great. Filtershop had the 39mm SH-PMC in a KR 1.5 and I threw in the one yellow filter they had while I was ordering.

I've got The Filter Connection confused with the Filtershop. I've never done business with the Filtershop.
