I've had good luck with Navahos and Chesters. The Navahos came from Isons in Georgia, and the Chesters from Miller Nurseries in New York state (1-800-836-9630). Both do well in our not super-cold winters but very hot humid summers.

Katherine, Do you have a number or address for Isons? I live in GA, and would love to grow thornless blackberries. Thanks!

I purchased my thornless blackberries (Chester & Navaho) @ our local "Lowes" hardware. I planted them last fall and they produced several quarts this spring. Very nice large berries and they are growing like weeds!!!

Marsha, Ison's Nursery and Vineyards is in Brooks, GA 30205, 14 miles west of Griffin on Hwy. 16. Phone (800) 733-0324. They have a catalog and will ship, but it's cheaper to visit and pick out what you want.

Katherine, Thank you for Ison's phone/location. Will definitely be buying some next year. I love blackberry jam!

I live in WV also and purchased my blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and fruit trees from Miller nurseries. When I asked my mailman about the company he said not to go with companies from down south because the plants won't survive the winters here.Where in WV are you? We are in the Central part of the state.

Raintree Nursery of Morton, WA sells 5 types of thornless blackberries: Arapaho, Apache, Loch Ness, Triple Crown, and Black Douglass. Send for their catalog. It's great! Their website is raintreenursery.com. Good luck with your berries!
