75 Summilux OOF rendition or "bokeh"greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
For those of you considering the purchase of a 75 mm Summilux and are wondering about its legendary "bokeh" here is a shot I took with the Lux @ F2.8.
To me... good bokeh is like a good Tokay. You don't know about it till your sipping it.
Cheers,

So there is sample variation after all ! My 75 lux goes best with red bordeaux....Nice bokeh/Tokay !?

If you had a choice which would you take? 75mm lux or 50mm Noctilux for bokeh and overall feel to pic.

I would take the 75 mm Lux anyday over the 50 Noct. Reason being is the handling. Too many turns on the 50 focusing ring makes it less handy to use on the street. And hell, when are you REALLY going to use F1.0 on the Noct? In my 2 years of owning the Leica system I've really only shot 1 or 2 successful shots with the 75 Lux @ 1.4
And... I really prefer the bokeh (all around) of the current 50 Cron formula. Really, the best lens of the Leica stable for its versatility and performance.

John, I agree, the current 50 cron has beautiful 'bokeh', is razor sharp, nice size and not too expensive (compared to other Leica lenses).

I bought the 75 Summilux because of the focal length and optical characteristics, not so much for the 1.4 aperture. I use it occasionally at maximum aperture, but more often stopped down. I like this lens and find myself using it more than my 90's; but my most used lens is the 50 Summicron. The 50 Summicron does everything that I ask of it, and it does it very well indeed.
