anyone know the name of the Leica corporate typeface?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Does anyone know the exact name of the typeface Leica uses on their printed material, ie. manuals, brochures...(i'm not refering to the Leica 'scripty' logotype). It looks close to a type face called Trade Gothic, but the cut is different on the numerals, etc...i have emailed this as a question to Leica's website but no answer. Any of you typographers/Leicaphiles now?? Thanks in advance,

Hmmmm. It looks like plain old Helvetica (with ocasional bold or itallic variations) to me. (I'm looking at the printed catalog.) But, it might be one of the derived fonts, too.

Resembles my typeface "Coronet", not italic, but bold, and the L up front would be extended (which I can't do here)
Leica

Thanks for your responses Ralph/Michael. I got a reply from Leica UK today saying that: "Leica Camera AG had the special font designed for them. Its called CorpoS". So, if any of you want your name, etc..engraved on your top plates you can ask for this font to be Leica correct. Cheers,

* CORRECTION * RE: Typeface matching your camera & lens typeface. I looked on my Leica gear today and noticed they use a different typeface to their printed material compared to the typeface they etch/engrave onto the lenses and body. Regards,
