Travel to Shanghi Chinagreenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread |
Next week I am making a business trip to Shanghi. It will be my first time in China. I will be there for about two weeks and return home just before Christmas. My question...should I take my Pentax 67II with me? If so, where should I go in Shanghi for some intersting subject matter? (nature, landscape...maybe city scapes?) Will I be safe walking the streets with the P67?
I want to travel light. Just the camera, one lens, some filters and film. What lens would be best?
Thanks.

Hi Mark, a trip to China and only one lens? You are a more disiplined person than me! I don't know which lenses you own but if I had to choose just one; it would be my 75mm f/4.5 and if I could take another it would be my 165mm f/4. Of course you will also need a flash. Hope you have a great trip.

Hi Mark, I responded to your post just a while ago and after thinking about it some more I've decided to try and change your mind about traveling light. You have a 67II, if going light is your main goal then you have the wrong camera. Take your entire kit and let your vision and your circumstances decide what to use. Whenever I decide to leave something at home it is always the piece I need the most. Again, have a great trip!

If I had to travel with just one lens, it would be the 55-100 zoom. It's about 28-50 in 35mm, wide to normal. It's a little heavy, but very versitile. Bob

I found this sight because my son who is only 17 is an exchange student in China for the summer and I was looking for info on Shanghi. We taked about cameras before he left and I suggested the importance of a small one so it always eay to have the camera with you. In my sons case the type of lens doesn't matter. However, it is really important to take alot of street-people pictures not just buildings because it's the humanity in China that is so interesting. My son also commented on how very long the plane ride was but what does one expect when China is half way around the globe. How exciting!!!
