Yes, but even more interesting, what is that 40mm lens on that Bessa body. . . . . or maybe more to the point, what is a bayonet lens doing on a Bessa body that looks like the "R"????????

The body is the Bessa T which has a M bayonet mount.

Interesting item, I wonder how popular it will be? Given how many people actually are into the 40mm length (as opposed to the 35 length). And then how many will want an external finder rather than just using the edges of the 35 lines. Still, I love to see Cosina coming up with ideas that other people wouldn't ever touch.

The lens on the 'T' body on the Cosina page is a 40 mm f2, either an M-Rokkor or an M-Summicron.

The 35mm frameline on an M6 give exactly 100% coverage for my 40mm Summicron at 10' and greater distances.

That's true. I use a 40mm Rokkor (CLE version) on a Hexar RF because the 35mm frameline is a much more accurate match for that lens. Someone on this site gave me some great advice on how to modify the lens so it brings up the 35 frameline (unmodified, it'll bring up the 50mm frame).

The lens on the Bessa looks like a ROkkor CLE 40mm. 40mm is a great focal length: a lovely mix of 35 and 50mm.

The 40mm Summicron/ Rokkor is a super sharp, very compact and well made Leica M mount lens that can be had for $200 to $300. Has to be the best deal going on a slight wide/normal for a Leica.
