Lens cap for the front of a 135mm Tele-Elmar hoodgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Boring question, but someone out there might know.I have the IUFOO-type hood for the 135mm Elmar and Tele-Elmar, and want to put a lens cap on the front of the hood so that it is always ready to go. Anyone know what size of push on cap works with this? I already have the Leica cap that fits on the hood when it is reversed on the lens, but find this hood reversing business a pain.
Thank you!

Robin,Can't you just use a metric ruler marked in MM (millimeters) to measure the diameter (outside to outside) of the hood? Would think this would indicate the size of push on cap. LB
ps: Thanks for your previous input on the 80 Summilux-R. The lens is great!

RobinLeica made a push on cap that goes on the IUFOO/12575 lenshood when it is reversed on the lens for storage. These are plastic affairs with cutouts for the metal push grips. They can be gotten from dealers or on eBay. However, they never made a cap for the hood when it went on lens for use, as they do now for their various wide angle lenses.

Right Luther. Can do. I just thought someone might actually have done this and have a "best" solution.Glad you like the 'lux!

A 55mm snap-cap fits the 14175 hood, which is the next version of the IUFOO. The 14185 (for the 35 and 50) takes a 53mm snap-cap. I had some of these made up a few years back and still have a couple. Trial and error or measure with a mm rule should tell you what you need for your hood.

Thanks Jay. The hood you mention is the same as the IUFOO as far as I can see.

That should be 12575 for the 90/135 and 12585 for the 35/50.

Just tried the 55mm cap and it fits the Tele-Elmar hood, but not the IUFOO (even though they look the same). A 53mm cap may well fit the IUFOO.
