OK here in our little slice of NC we just saw where your finger prints will be required to purchase an airline ticket. Isn't that a little over the top? Then to board your prints must match or you get arrested.

The locale town council voted 15-3 to install video cameras at 6 intersections. Interesting thing is there all where your facing uphill. Can you say candid camera?

Just saw 15 minutes ago Now when the cops are are called Social Services will be notified and they will investigate you for calling the cops. How about that, call for help get Investigated.

Sometimes I think were not paranoid enough. What do ya'll think?

I have heard more older women saying how they HATE him and are tired of hearing of him as I wait in lines around this little burg. Weird. I wonder why the Ole Bin hasn't had his cell phone disconnected...Who's paying the bill? Where is the bill sent? Do they make solar powered dialysis machines? Wouldn't it be hard to ride out of Afghainistan thru the mountains carrying an entire set up for dialysis...including PV panels?...hmmmmm.

Censoring History: Geo Shrub and his EO disallowing FOIA access to Presidential documents has the serious potential of causing a major re write of history. But take it back a bit farther...okay a goood bit farther! The Civil War was fought to emancipate the slaves. I KNOW I was asked that question in Freshman American History and I answered just like I was PROGRAMMED to answer....Wrong, it was about State's Rights. Then there's our auspicious entry to WW2. Turns out that after all the cards get laid on the table FDR knew about the bombing of Pearl Harbor a full month in advance, but we won't put that in the history books. Oh yeah, now Russia is our ally, enemy, ally, and China is our enemy, ally, enemy...makes our useless trinkets and all of our footwear. Hmmmm, yet again.

This could go on and on, but it sure does run parallel.

Doreen, it's been at least thirty-five years since I've read 1984, but I seem to remember the protagonist's (was it Fritag, or was that Fahrenheit 451?) watching the (two way) telly screen which dominated his entire living room wall, and thinking, "hmm, I thought such and such country was our ALLY. I must be forgetting something". I think he, like us, has heard so many lies from so many administrations, that he had a hard time sorting everything out in his mind.

To ALL of you folks: be careful. Remember what John Asscraft said: "those who question the administration's anti terrorists are aiding and abetting the enemy."

Doreen, I've also seriously considered "resigning", for many of the same reasons. I believe that you CAN "resign", in a way. Simply move to a more democratic country. Or at least to one which is less corrupt than this one. Of course, this may not be to our liking either. I for one, would hate to leave all my friends, my kids and grandkids, and my community (into which I've put so much work and time), just to find myself an "outsider" in another country.

If I do leave, my current fantasy is Costa Rica. One of the few Latin American countries which hasn't had its democratically elected government overthrown by our CIA types. Maybe because there is not oil there? (Sinclair Oil did try to find oil, right in the middle of a Nature preserve next to Cahuita, but came up without a viable well. Can't remember the name of the preserve, right now. Parque Nacional de Cahuita, maybe?

Speaking of the tropics, and kids and grandbabies, I'm outa here. Goin' to Floriduh, where the sun shines, and your towel never dries out!

I've actually looked into Costa Rica, Joj. Here's the thing for me, what are we leaving to your grandkids if we bail? It's almost like if we just think we can skate under the radar and keep our little heads down and avoid outright confrontation with TPTB, that we give tacit approval to their dictatorial actions. Too many in my family have both fought and died for the ideals espoused in the Constituion. I would be remiss to worry about only myself since so many have given their all.

However, I must admit that I am frustrated.sigh.

Doreen, I'm back, and happy to say that I saw no bushes whatsoever in Floriduh! only grandbabies, son, daughter in law, lots of their friends, and lots of nice people at the beach.

I agree with you in your concern about what we'd be leaving our grandbabies if we bail. I've thought of that a lot.

I used to think that I would be more effective if I stayed and tried to influence the government here in the USA. In fact, I HAVE had a fair amount of such influence, but only locally. Well, a little bit at the state level, I guess, but mostly locally.

I have never, NEVER felt that the federales gave a tinker's doggonit about what I thought, what I wrote, what I said. I believe I could run into the middle of the senate office building, and yell "fire", and they'd all give me a great big yawn!

I've long been a proponent of "think globally, act locally". I've done that, more and more as I age. I feel like I'm a good citizen. I don't agree with a lot of your political leanings, and I think that's ok. I sure don't expect everyone to agree with me, either.

On the other hand, I see the us of a becoming a tool for some very bad boys to use to empower themselves--and ONLY themselves. These folks seem to care less what is good for the rest of us. That's the kind of thing that makes me feel so helpless as a usa citizen. We're supposed to have a representative government, and, by golly, I don't feel very doggone represented anymore. Anymore it seems that "money talks, scat walks". I'm not rich and famous (nor do I wanta be), so my vote "don't" count for much, it seems.

Sorry, Kenneth, I basically told Doreen that it was interesting that she speaks Spanish, where did she learn it, and does she sometimes travle where Spanish is spoken.

As for your statement "no habla espanol", you do know some, but only enough to get you in trouble! What you said means "YOU don't speak Spanish" (Or it could also mean HE, SHE or IT does not speak Spanish)

If you want to tell someone "I don't speak Spanish", you want to say, "No hablo espanol".

I remember spanish class very well. That was the year I spent 50% of my time in the HS office. But dang it She was so cute and well....I learned one word cono. and all the tenses and verbs went poof. Back then 2nd language classes were electives. So most of us really took them just to goof off.
