Hi. In a figure list of Leica M lens I have seen that for the 2,0/35 Summicron, till the number 2.483.503 (1969-1971), is indicated, as filter size, only the Series 7. It's possible that this lens has not the traditional E39 threading? ThanksCarlo

I own lens #1996099 35mm Summicrn (1st version 8-element) and it has the traditional E39 filter threads - the filter fits fine.Accordng to Lager, the only 35mm Summicron that does not have E39 threads is one brief run of the 3rd version starting just above 2461001. Lager theorizes that Leitz tried to standardize on the 12504 hood with Series VII flter - the same one used on the 35mm Summilux of the time. Because of consumer complaints Leitz went back to the E39 theads almost immediatey.
All other versions of the 35mm Summicron take the E39 filter, including the current ASPH.

I think you may have been looking at an R Leica 35 summicron lens which did have a series 7 filter for this period and serial #. See this url.http://www.kbcamera.com/rlens35f2summicron.htm
The later versions of the R 35 summicron had E55 filters and I can attest that it is a great lens. I had a picture on my desk of one of the antique orange streetcars that are running along the embarcadero that I took with the 35 R cron. A friend who uses a Nikon 35 2.0 autofocus stopped by my desk and was blown away by my picture. He couldn't stop talking about it. Good luck.
