I have the E7 #2909 and it has the double white stripe as opposed to the simplified green. Is this, was this ever appropriate. I have been reading below about the paint scheme switch around 1949 and the double stripe is apparently correct for my E6 but my E7 has the same look.???

the first batch of E7's delivered in 1946 had the double stripe, so your E7 is correct up through at least 1949. It appears that when the decision was made to go to the simplified green scheme around May 1949, the repainting took place quickly.
