I would like some help about what to do about my cats abcesed leg. I have heard that i need to buy some penicillin to give but i dont know what kind i need to get and were i could buy it. Thanks

I have had good results without resorting to antibiotics. I used hot water with aloe vera gel and tea tree oil mixed into it. Using a washcloth, I gently held this onto the cat (the abscess was by his eye) for as long as he would sit with me. After a few days, it opened and started draining. I continued to use this method and it totally healed within two to three weeks. We could hardly believe the results. I hope this helps.

Penicillin is NOT recommended for abcesses at all in small animals (or large animals for that matter), go to your vet and get something far more appropraite for abcesses, you should be able to get it from a rural vet over-the-counter, gentemyacin is usually prescribed.

You can make an abcess worse by using the wrong drug, get professional advice from a VET!

Clavamox or Amoxicillin can safely be used please check with your vet before giving anything to your cat. Severe allergic reactions are possible. Kelly

I'd bite the bullet too and take the cat to a vet for a check up. There very well might be a foreign something in that abcess and all the doctoring won't cure it. Good Luck !!
