M6 TTL 0.85 Selftimer - doesn't working, why?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I get not used 0.85 body but I can only push lever to the right seeing this from upside - without a resistance. It doesn't working yet. I can only hear a little clicking when pushing. Any advice – I hope that I don’t have to buy an external selftimer.

O dear Jack

You are pushing the preview lever. No current M has a selftimer. Look throught the viewfinder while you push the lever.

OK, own up - who is this....one of Alfie's friends?

aha! this is why my selftimer pictures never came out!

The M6ttl does not have a self timer. I think the lever you are turning is the film release lever which must be turned to the right (as viewed from the bottom as you say) prior to rewinding the film. Happy shooting! :-)

Ok. I made a mistake! I bought used and never had chance before to check how it working. Really - it's looking like selftimer. Funny - I must tell my friend what I wrote :-)

Jack: Glad to have you aboard! A simple mistake responded to with style and grace by Robin and Ron. Enough said.

Lighten up Max and get with the flow! Questions are always answered here politely and comprehensively, occasionally some of us also throw in a good natured little quip.

Giles: IMO (note my progress) you are correct pertaining to comprehensiveness. I beg to differ when it comes to politeness. The two should not be mutually exclusive. The wisest people I know are always polite. The most intelligent, not always so. I enjoy humor, but when it comes to ridicule of another, I believe our fellowship suffers an injury. I don't choose to "get with that flow".

Errr....me too!

Actually, Jack, on the old M4 the timer lever and the lens preview lever were practically identical in design, so don't feel too bad.....
