Id ing a goat breed.......greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Hi to all of you goat people out there. I enjoy reading about your ups and downs. I do not keep goats myself but find them interesting and entertaining critters. Thought you might be able to ID a breed of goat I pass going to and from town. They are very pretty. All white bodies with deep red necks and heads, like a dark sorrel horse. The ears look to be dropped but not laying flat down against the head. Any ideas These are attractive animals! Thanks, LQ

If you go to in Dee in NJ, I think you will see the goats you are referring to. It is a Boer goat. They are raised for meat instead of dairy. Really nice goats, quiet and hardy.

Thanks for the answers and thanks for the link to the picture. Very nice, and yes I think this must be the breed although those here have no white on the necks or heads and are all alike as peas in a pod. Thanks again. LQ
