Goat geneticly engineered for something usefulgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
To heck with goats made to provide silk. Lets get something useful like a rabbit gene so one or two days prior to kidding goats will pull a little bit of hair for a nest then we will know to be ready. I hope you all realize that this is tongue in cheek. Maybe list a few other silly things we could do with genes?

Make all garden pests so they reconize and respect a stay out of garden sign.

Lets see if some one can cross the strawberry with the milk weed and that way we can have strawberries and cream at the same picking

What I can't figure out is how they keep those goats from climbing the walls and spinning webs!

In regards to goats spinning webs should make a great movie considering how much cuter goats are as opposed to spiders as Charolete was in the movie.

Lying in bed, looking up at the ceiling, now which would I rather see above me - a spider or a goat?OK, this isn't really genetic engineering, but it's along the lines of the intent of the thread, I think. I picked it up, unidentified, off another site I frequent:
"Pfizer Corp. (NYSE PFE) is making the announcement today that VIAGRA will soon be available in liquid form and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola Pepsi Bottling Group (NYSE PBG) as a power beverage suitable for use as is, or as a mixer, under the name 'Mount And Do'. Pepsi's proposed ad campaign suggests: 'It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.'"

Don, you're killing me!I think we should cross llamas and cows so that we can get cows that make their own manure pile. THAT would be useful, and think of all the time savings!

how about a tomato that crosses with garlic basil and oregano, a nice roma type , that all i would have to do is cut them up and poof pasta sauce :)or better yet , mix cowws and goats , maybe we would get cows with a brain...
geneticly modify humans , so stupid folks cant breed ( sorry mean one)

or better yet , mix cowws and goats, maybe we would get cows with a brain...The horror, the horror.
I do NOT want any creature the size of a cow with the perverse cleverness of a goat! We'd all have to use railroad ties for fence posts and rod stock for fence wire.

Now THERE'S a thought! How about a goat with the placid outlook of a cow, and bucks that smell like bulls?
-- Don Armstrong (darmst@yahoo.com.au), January 24, 2002.
Well.... if you crossed a cow with my mean Alpines you'd get a cow with a heck of an attitude. Actually i have to thank, as i mentioned in the other thread about this for being able to buy one of the top herds of alpines in the country. they were going to be sold to that lab but the bredder didn't really want the last of her lines in a situation where their genetics would never be transmitted on.I bet ya that lab found out that the girls were really mean and figured that there might be evil spiders, etc.
I have one named Wicked Rumor and I don't call her Wiccy (after witch) for nothing!
