I took John's advice and began uploading photos to photo.net, now. This URL will get you there. Only the little Hawkeye Fan photo is shot with Leica gear. The others are shot with various Canon equipement (sorry, I just switched to Leica recently after many years of making excuses.) Thanks for any input.

Lance: You a newspaper shooter? The Canon shots look a lot like part of a reasonable newsprint photographer's portfolio - a little sports action, the pool cleaner for the small business page, the mill and tiny railroader for the local section cover (wild art without stories).

(Dubuque or Ames though, not The Register.)

I feel like you're standing back and letting the long lenses do the work, instead of getting up close and personal for more intimate involved pictures with a shorter lens, Everything is 200mm or 20mm for effect. Even with the Leica you're still sticking to the 250 - is that a cop-out?

Maybe it's just because I shoot M's now.. (and believe me - I've been there, too and done that - except with Nikkors 8^)..)

So what difference do you see (if any) with the "L" camera/glass?

Yeah, sometimes its a challenge to see just how close you can get before spooking the study.

And often times, the difference between a genuine expression and one that is contrived is measured on the order of a fraction of a second after the subject's shoulder is tapped.

Yes, I do some work for local newspapers. Does it Show? (Sarcasm) I am guilty of using wide lenses for effect, certainly. I've been trying to steer myself in a different direction lately. Racing photography is my bread and butter, actually. I am the photo editor for a small Iowa racing newspaper. I'll have some of those photos up eventually. The little girl shot with the 250 telyt was mainly because that's what I had on the camera at the time. I was there shooting the football action. (You would be surprised at the awe in some of those other photographer's responses to the Leica. This from guys with 400f2.8 EOS lenses and such.)

Andy, The canon 70-200f2.8L is a nice lens. I admit I will miss it. With the EOS1n it is lightning quick (focusing) and very sharp. So far for the R4s and R5 I have a 24, 90f2 and the 250f4. There's a 135 on the way, and I still haven't decided what to do about a 180. f3.4 APO or 2.8 non APO. I can't decide if I the limited close focusing of the APO would be a problem or not. I wish I could afford the new APO f2.8, but it's just not in the cards.
