X Arcade Joystick Questiongreenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread |
HiJust setup my Arcade X Joystick but something really strange is happening??
If I run a game the default keys in MAME are set to the arrow keys, I have to go into each game and change the settings to use the arrow keys on the numeric keypad??
So the up,down, left, right show up as NUM2, NUM8 etc etc....
Sometimes when I press an arrow key on the number keypad it displays as say 'Right Arrow' ??
It's all a bit strange as I know that the normal default position keys (Arrows) should just work....
Wondering if my keyboard is not setup right?
Any help would b great...
Thanks

the hotrod setup uses the numpad you might try setting hotrod=yes or hotrodse=yes in mame.cfg (note i'm going by memory on the switch names) but then the fire buttons might be different...

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe what is occuring with the NUM/arrow keys is an issue with the NUM lock. Mess around with it.

You need to set Mame to HotrodSE, the X-arcade is set by default (memory 1) to use this configuration. Use Mame32 to make it easier.ROB

Download the version of mame32 xarcade has on their website or find another emualtor that says it supports x-arcade. What I think was actually the newest mame32 didnt have x-arcade in there preset controls options. I had to remove the version i had also for the new changes to take affect. Sound's like the same problem.

I am having exactly the same problem with my X-Arcade joystick - it's set up to use the cursers on the number keypad, but MAME uses the normal curser keys. I have tried turning numlock on and off, I have tried setting MAME to all the different default inputs within the controller otions including the X-Arcade one, but no luck. The result is that player one's joystick isn't recognized by MAME (the bottons and player 2's joystick are ok). I'm still trying to figure it out. It doesn't help in the fact that you can't programme the X-Arcade to recognise the standard cursers. Has anyone sorted this problem out? I contacted X-Arcade's support and they said leave numlock on and set the controller options within MAME to X-Arcade, but I tried this and the result was that nothing worked at all - the Joystick or keyboard.
