new prices on M6 TTL?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Havent' been able to confirm, but it seems like Leica has new prices on the M6 TTLs. I just called a local dealer who quoted me $1,840 over the phone - no haggling. Was he only givin my a good price or has Leica, as he indicated, lowered their prices?
cheers,
pat

It might be true. Yesterday I managed to secure the .58 for $1,599, though it was with the international warranty. Probably just the good exchange rate. Same for the lenses.

Surely it makes sense - Leica must feel the M7 will be a big hit and they are keen to run down stocks of the M6 in anticipation, less their dealers get stuck with a load of unsaleable stock.

Must be nice, in March of '99 I paid $2195 for the body and $945 for the 50 Summicron. No rebates. Then again, I bought Qualcomm at $177 a share.

I bought my 0.58 last fall from a major USA dealer on Leica Days. So, it was 10% off and then I got another $200 rebate. So, the net cost was $1600 ($1599?), new, with passport.

OK, it is confirmed. Leica lowered the price with $50, thus new 'lowest advertised price' is $1,950I wish that Leica mail-in rebate would be reinstated asap.

Patrick: Don't hold your breath! Leica has no reason to start its' rebate program at this point. I agree that they want to run down the already existing stocks of all the M6 bodies but not via the rebate route. I guess that business is good for them.
