I believe the 1939 World's Fair was in New York or somewhere on the East coast. What was the 1939 San Francisco Treasure Island World's Fair. My parents honeymooned in San Francisco in 1939 and always talked about seeing a television at the World's Fair.

My parents were teens at the time, living in Berkeley, and took the ferry over to the fair several times.

I lived across the bay from San Francisco in El Cerrito during the fair, I was 10 and my sister 13. We went to the fair several times. And YES, there were T V's showing there. It just so happened that as young as I was the man talked to me outside and my sister watched on the screen inside. Then we traded places but by the time she got out there he wasn't talking to any one. I have around four pictures of me there.

I live on Treasure Island now. My grandmother and grandfather's first date was at the World's Fair on Treasure Island back in 1939. My grandmother talks about it all of the time. It was the thing to do back then for young people. She said she would come out here and go dancing all of the time and the phone company had this international calling exposition and she won a long distance call. She called her aunt back in Portugal. She said it was absolutely spectacular! I am now trying to find a book or photos of the fair. I would like to give her some sort of a special gift for Christmas with photos to bring back the memories.
