Image to critique... the resurgence of surrealism.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I took this image with a Leica M camera and a 50 summicron lens. I work in a photo-arts department and this simple arrangement of shapes is reminescent of the glory days of our beloved Man Ray. I don't want to come across as arrogant but I'm pretty good at my craft. Well, here's the image.

Please reserve the excessive accolades for other lesser forums!

Comments regarding my genius are welcome.

What craft is that? It wouldn't be of a scatological nature would it?

I'm also accomplished in the Robert Mapplethorpe school of the arts. Here is an example of my creative genius in this fascinating genre.

My agent is waiting by his phone...

Indeed. I, however, taught Edward Weston everything he knows (or knew). We are fortunate to be so gifted. I call this masterpiece "Moonscape". Technical details: Leica M6J, 50/2.8 Elmar (matching serial numbers of course), 1/125 at f4.

Ok... well, maybe it's better that it doesn't show. The world is not ready for my genius just yet.

Anton,

Having seen your contribution to this (rather highbrow) thread, at URL http://www.geocities.com/anonht/moon.jpg, I suggest you use bounce flash to prevent such glaring highlights. ;-)

Interesting image, the irony implicit in the narrative tension of retreating frames and where's my waitress?

Rob,

To which image ar you referring? Not Anton's, I hope!! ;-)

Hey Anton, you're pathetic efforts at surrealism pale in comparison to my greatness. Go back to the Bastille there buddy, the monks have a lot more to teach you about aesthetics!!!! Here is a lesson courtesy of me actually, I shouldn't be posting this as it is YET another unfinished masterpiece but I am a man of the people and the people demand GREATNESS.

I used a combination of Sabattier effect and judicious use of Oriental Seagull paper to create this masterful effect.

Learn from the force my young Skywalker.

The Great One.

Oh Great One, that's a masterful bird you're flipping there. Poignant and ironic, yes.

You obviously have a great deal of time on your hands, I'll give you 50p an hour to mow my lawn, how about it?

Bravo! Bravo! The master is back with us mere mortals again!

Alfie should be proud, this one and the followings are Dogme 95 Certified.

Well, at least... Cheers. X.

That's right. My last image is a study in Dada.

It bypasses all pretension and conventional aesthetics and speaks directly to the soul!

Why, Oh why are my concepts being ignored????

There's no trying in art! If you've tried in the past, then you've tried wayyy too hard!!!! You must be blessed with the intuition of the ages, the hard-wired philosophy of the homo sapien. Well, its really hard to adjectify this virtue, especially when you are born with it.

Sincerely,

The Great One!
