75-Summilux steady as a rock

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

The picture below taken with a 75-Summilux at f/2 and 1/8th second handheld shows how the weight of this lens can help to steady the camera. I leaned against a pillar in Wat Phumin in Nan in northern Thailand.

I used Tri-X at ISO200 developed in 1+25 Rodinal for 11 min at 68°F. There is beautiful grain in the 12x18 inch print that doesn't show in the screnn image.

The picture didn't show. Maybe this will work:

Thanks for sharing! That is an awesome photo. I really like the 75 as well, but I am awaiting a replacement for a defective one I received from B&H (scratch on rear element that was there out of the box). Anyway, my lens setup is the 35 and 75 lux (or soon to be). Thanks for input, I found the 75 is nice and steady as well, it acts as a nice 2nd very steady grip. I didn't find it unwieldy at all, and it barely obstructs the 75 framelines, DESPITE what others may say.

Cool shot.

At 1/25 with the 75, my images are slightly soft (though still usable for some subjects)--this is without bracing my arms or myself against anything. Shooting at 1/50 handheld is no problem (though I'm sure sharpness would be improved with a tripod).
