Can you help me find or answer where I can find a primary source for levi strauss, the blue jean maker. I need a primary source for a research paper, on levi strauss, not the company, the person. I need something from the time he was alive. Like a quote in an interview, or an interview. Acutally anything at all will work, I just need if from the 1800's.

This is supposed to be the best biography of Mr. Strauss:

Sondra Henry & Emily Taitz's Everyone Wears His Name: A Biography of Levi Strauss, (Dillon, 1990).

You could start with that and see what kind of a bibliography it has. If you are in San Francisco, you can go to the Levi Strauss website (whoops, forgot the URL, but it's easy to search for) and find out if they have public access to their history room. Couldn't hurt to call them.

Also, check out the Special Collections at the SF Public Library.
