Charles,I think the shot is a tad "flat" in terms of tonal range. I noticed that you had exposed at f1.4 and 1/30th. Had you moved just a little closer to the window... underexposed 2 stops at the same shutter speed (so f4)you could reclaim alot of detail in the tree next to the moose and used the underexposed (essentially silhouette) of the window frame, dog, and domestic trappings to frame the shot. All IMHO of course and nothing personal.
Cheers,

Ahhh reminds me of my Anchorage days. Fairbanks, now that's a whole lot colder.

We've been having a lot of moose in and about our yard lately. Seems like nearly every day this week. Yesterday morning, all blurry-eyed at 6:30am, right when I got up, stumbled down stairs to put on my slippers, opened the front door for the morning paper, and there she was: this HUGE moose standing two feet from my porch and munching on my shrubbery. Scared the bajeeezus out of me. They're big jerks is what they are. The other day (this week) we had two big ones in our front yard eating the shrubs.

And I thought tripping over my neighbor's cat was a nuisance . . .

Brings back memories! I lived in Eagle River, AK for 8 years. One morning the kids couldn't leave for school because a moose calf was standing on our front porch with mom only a few yards away. Seems odd now but I never took a single "moose" picture during the entire 8 years.
