Lost a filling tonite that turned out to be quite painful and being the weekend, did not feel like spending $150 bucks for an afterhours temporary filling. I found the temporary filling goop at the pharmacy for $8. Came home and anesthetized the tooth with 100 proof Old Grandad and cleaned it with my hydropic and polisher. Then sobered completely up and rinsed with aneseptic wash and packed the filling per instructions in the goop pack. Now with my luck , the dentist will probably charge me $200 extra to remove the temporary next week :>)

those temp fillings are just zinc oxide and oil of cloves,, you can buy a l;arge size of each at health food stores,, mix 50/50,, beats 8 bucks per filling

Jay Hopefully your teeth aren't so bad that you need the industrial size version of temp. tooth goop. But I'll have to remember this. I had a molar that I cracked on a cherry pit about 4 years ago (Cost me for the emergency visit). The dentist saved the tooth with a filling. One night on my way home from work (about a month ago), I stopped to buy Popeye's Fried Chicken and of course, couldn't wait to get home to eat it. I cracked out the rest of the tooth and the filling remained. I had to do the emergency visit on a weekday. It's costing me $850.00 for a crown and the visit. Wish I knew about the goop.

Jay I bet that JB Weld would have worked! Then you wouldn't have to go back to the dentist at all. Stan does the mixture you mentioned harden? I guess it must. Funny how things react to each other.

I THOUGHT about JB weld (and that was the scary part). Decided I dindn't like the idea of propping my mouth open with popcicle sticks and packing it with cotton for 12 to 18 hours to let it set (that I figured all that out was the "really scary part" :>)

I only lose a filling every 15 years or so. I guess the $8 goop is fine. No need to go "industrial grade".

the mix hardenes,, but just like a temp from the dentist . I was givin a couple packs once,, while waiting on a crown,, checked the ingredients,, thats what it was,,, did some searching on, military/survival dentistry,, thats what they use. I keep a couple of the kits you buy at the drugstore,, didnt pay 8 bucks though,, kep them in my travel bag
