We talked about this once before (in your blog comments) but I think it's interesting that even though they set the article up as focusing on what you do right, it seems Hanne was still bothered 4 months later by what she did wrong on a particular leg. I'm still bothered by my bad decisions on a certain leg in an adventure race last June!

As a side note, I had more success opening up the maps on this topic and on Spike's blog on Jorgen Rostrup's maps with the Opera browser than Netscape. In fact Netscape didn't give me any "karta" page or lists. Opera was recommended to me by my computer whiz brother (the one in Singapore). By the way, Opera is a Norwegian product and claims it's the faster browser. You might give it a try.

I noticed that, too. Maybe what is important is to learn from your success without forgetting your errors.

Some errors don't bother me much at all. If I make a small mistake and catch it quickly, I don't usually get annoyed with myself.

But, some errors bother me. If I made a mistake when I knew I was doing something wrong, then I might not forget it so easily. I made a mistake at the Oringen last summer where I was getting near a control in a difficult area. As I was getting close to the control, I thought, "looks tough, I gotta take it easy." But, then I just ran in without slowing down. I lost map contact. I boomed the control. I didn't do what I knew I was supposed to do. I knew I needed to slow down and read the map carefully. Why didn't I?

I was looking at the site statistics for the page with Hanne Staff's interview and discovered a lot of hits from Spain (of all places).
