bit the bullet, bought a 35 summicron, ASPHgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Just thought I'd let you folks know that I found and bought a used but near mint condition 35 summicron ASPH. Paid $1100 for it. Absolutely clean glass, fully functional. The only problems with it are two small nicks/marks on the black paint on the aperture ring.I shot with it casually this weekend to do some light comparing against my 50 summicron and other than framing/perspective, I can't tell the difference between the two at f/2.
In two weekends, I've got another dance gig where I'll be able to do a true test of the summicrons abilities wide-open and lowlight.
Just thought I'd share. Thanks to those who helped me early on in deciding against a 2nd version 35mm for $750 and waiting until I found an ASPH.

"Why do folk on this site get so wound-up with other users,*insulting* them, trying to *degrade* them? Why doesn't the *twat* at Liverpool airport ever give my film a hand search?"
---Notice anything paradoxical about this pair of questions?

Uh, guys,This post was just a happy-thought, mostly to celebrate my new purchase and to thank people who helped me make the decision on the purchase.

I have the same lens. I use it 85% of the time. The 50, 90, and 28 for all the rest.Great lens that should last a lifetime. Can't imagine how they would improve it.

Victor, the 35 is an excellent choice, it's my favourite. I think it offers a natural view with the M series.
Congrat's.

Phil, some answers in life need to come from professional help, not this forum. Carrying on like that doesn't do anyone any favours, especially yourself. Let's move on shall we.....Victor is happy and I for one, am happy for him. Take some shots and show us Victor. A great lens, capable of taking great pictures. Time to get you money's worth!
