Is it 50MM or 55MM

I'm seeing canon lense FD 50MM f/1:1.4 SSC and then you see conse FD 55MM f/1:1.4 was this happening when canon was changing from breech-Lock to Bayonet mounts anybody have info on this.

All of Canon's f 1.4 normal lenses were designated as 50mm. This is from the FL days of the mid 60s through the EOS period. The f 1.2 normals started at 58mm during the R series days, became 55mm in the FL period, and finally 50mm with theh introduction of the "New FD" bayonet mount lenses.

I still have the Canon FL 55mm f1.2 lens. It is a big hunk of glass, and really a pretty good lens. The above post was correct, in that all the FD lenses of this focal length were 50 mm. Nikon had the 55 mm lenses, and the 110 mm macro.
