Do you need to feed ducklings different food as they get older??

I have a baby duckling that I am raising, I am curious if he should eat the same food as he gets older or if I should buy some other feed for him to eat as he gets older.

This may vary a little who you talk to, but we feed them a starter feed for 4 - 6 weeks, then on a grower feed until 6 months old, then layer feed, maybe a breeder feed, depending on what you are using them for.

We just gave ours waterfowl feed the whole time, I think. If you compare the waterfowl feed to your general poultry(chicken) layer pellets, you will find that the waterfowl feed has higher protein & lower calcium than chicken feed. A substantially different blend, so there must be a reason for it -- stick to waterfowl feed. And of course, no medicated chick feed. Our 7 ducks are giving us about an egg a day each now, so they must be happy.
