exposure control with 1 cam lens on Leicaflex SL

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have used the Leicaflex Std. for many years and have accumulated an array of lenses for it. I have just acquired a Leicaflex SL and a Leica R5 and I'm beginning to build a collection of lenses for them, too. I don't want to spend a fortune having all of my old Std.1 cam lenses modified with a 2nd and/or 3rd cam to fit the new cameras, but would like to continue to use them. What method should I use to take exposure readings on the SL and R5 with them as they are now? Is the spot measurement taken with the lens stopped down to working aperture, or is there a factor involved? Thanks in advance.

Stop-down metering should work fine with the SL but you may have to experiment with the R5. I've had to adjust exposure by 1.5 stops with the R4s and R4sP but people using R6.2 and R8 bodies tell me no compensation is needed.
