Why you shouldn't take muscle relaxers at bedtime....

Night before last, my dear hubby Phil was having a really hard time with shoulder pain. He'd been hurting for a couple of days, poor thing. He decided that he'd take a couple of muscle relaxers before he went to bed, hoping it would have things cleared up by the next morning.

Now, I have problems sleeping. I'm a very light sleeper, and once something wakes me up, it takes me forever to get back to sleep. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was to be awakened at 3:05 in the morning by my hubby pushing my rolling desk chair across our bedroom floor! I asked him what he was doing and he replied, "I'm moving this chair!" So, I asked him what for, and he snipped, "For a WHILE!" Then he crawled back into bed and started snoring almost immediately. I, on the other hand, was awake until 6:30, when I finally dozed back off, just in time for our 4 year old to come climb in bed with us at 7:00.

When I asked him about it the next morning, he grinned and said, "You know, I sorta remember doing that! And when you asked me why I was moving the chair, I couldn't remember WHY I was doing it and it made me mad! I just remember that it seemed like something I really HAD to do for some reason!"

We figured it must have been the muscle relaxers..... Either that, or he's been smothering his secret desire to be an interior decorator for the 20 years we've been married! I'm beginning to wonder if clandestine late night furniture repositioning might not be the cause of his shoulder pain?!? :-)

Set up a video camera at night for a couple weeks. You might find it interesting, plus it could add some spice to your sex life at the same time. :-)

Now that is a cute story. I have another that ended funny but could have been a tragic situation. We have a basset hound and my husband always tells me not to let it jump down from things it will hurt its tiny legs. My husband also told me not to smack it when it is bad (which is all the time) because it could really hurt a bassett. They are pretty deformed looking. Anyway, one morning while having coffee at 5:30 a.m. dog jumps off couch and then attacks the legs of my coffee table. I smack it. Called hubby to take the animal into the bathroom while he shaved. about an hour later this dog started to fall down and throw up. I was scared that it became paralized from jumping off the coach and me smacking it. Then I sat it ourdoors to call the vet it started grazing like a cow. The vet said it had the flu but after a few hours of throwing up I took it to the vet and he said it had a tonsil infection and gave me pills. I couldn't believe a dog would become paralized with a tonsilitis! That evening we found the bottle of muscle relaxers the dog had comsume. Poor thing walked like a drunk for a good 12 hours! We do not have any more pills in the house.

I had back surgery recently and my wife has told me some funny stories. she told me the other night I sat up, looked at her and said "I like horses, can they swim?" and then said I wished our bathtub was like a race track (I never even knew I liked horses). I also see evidence of my night before she gets up to tell me about it. A few weeks ago I took all the books off my bookshelf (about 50) and stacked them on the floor. I have tried to feed my fish shaving cream, turned on the dryer with nothing in it, try to get dressed...you name it. Good thing I don't need them anymore--maybe my poor wife can get some well earned rest!
