Tammy, call your County Extension Agent. They will have some tips for you. Also, check your library. There are a number of books out on this subject. Be aware though that what these critters eat or don't eat many times depends on the season and what cycles the weather is going through. Drought, more rain than usual etc. It makes interesting reading and I think you will enjoy the research. LQ

Tammy - the Minneapolis Star and Tribune had an article on plants that deer don't like. Go to their website; into homezone; into gardening and scroll the articles. One caveat; they do mention there's a wide variance between areas. CA deer might love some plants MN deer wouldn't touch. Good luck. D Ray

anythign made oout of brick, concrete, or steel,, they tend to leave alone,, otherwise,, its just a matter of taste for them,, if one likes it,, it WILL eat it,, how about some rabbit stew,, vension steaks instead

Hi, we live in the central California sierra foothills and the deer will eat most anything. Especially roses !! I have had good luck with daffodils but of course they are short lived. Even the gophers won't eat daffodils. Also, they won't eat Camillias and Azaelas and other leathery leafed plants. Some plants they only eat the flowers off of and will leave the foilage. Like Daylillies. I have had good luck with all types of lavender, rosemary and oleanders. (but contrary to what the gardening books say oleanders will die in a good freeze). Your best defense is a good-sized barking yard dog. The deer don't pay any attention to our mini-schnauzer. Good luck, and just try a little of this and that and you will eventually find enough things to grow to have some color. Oh, they won't eat mums either. At least not here.
