Is there a site where I can get some info on this camera? Is the R/R2 and lenses fully compatable with my M6 ttl/35mm lux?

well, it doesn't arrive to the US until mid-April. Gandy has some info on cameraquest.com (-> For sale -> Bessa R2) and there is a link to the official Japanese site there.I talked to a distributor, price around $499, apparently fully compatible w/ your M lenses. I would wait and see until someone actually tested that.

I am looking forward to checking out this camera when it finally arrives.I think when the R first came out there were come complaints mainly about the rangefinders either being out of allignment right out of the box or shortly afterward with use. Also I've heard some other problems I think with the winding mechanism. Hopefully they have addressed these and other issues. I want to take advantage of the M leica lenses but want "in camera" metering so that probably will rule out a used M2/M3 which will cost a few hundred more than the R2 anyway. .

I handled the R2 when I was at Tokyo Photo Expo 2002 a week or so back. It's quite nice ... feels good, sounds about the same as the R, fits the M bayonet lenses. Due to the shortish rangefinder effective baseline, I would be leery about ultimate focusing accuracy close-up with 75/1.4, 90/2 lenses but it should be fine otherwise.I see it as a very good choice for a second body if you simply want a backup for your M6TTL, or a fine primary body if you don't shoot with the faster/longer focal lengths much.

Hello Kevin:Please have a look at http://www.cameraquest.com/classics.htm
Also, you have a nice mailing list using www.topica.com, it is called CVUG
Very nice chaps on that list (normal, I subscribed, as a lurker)
However, it's not too clear yet. I had the same idea, put a 'Cron on a Bessa R2...
Cheers X.
